"My passion is to help cycling become part of everyday life, and this means working to secure the major investment in cycling infrastructure that is needed to achieve this goal.

"Throughout my career working on cycling strategies, there have been challenges in securing funding, and councils have had to be innovative in their approach to developing cycling schemes. In Oldham, I’ve worked with colleagues to develop a long-term approach to the delivery of cycle routes, and we’ve been successful in obtaining funding and incorporating cycle infrastructure within new road developments.

"Unity has helped Oldham Council to bid for cycling funds from Sustrans and Cycling England. This has currently drawn in over £250,000 for the borough with the prospect of a further £1 million associated with a major bridge structure. These major investments will help to deliver the flagship cycle routes that will help change the public's perception of cycling."

Paul has more than 10 years’ experience ranging from the formulation of cycling policy, research and analysis, preparation of funding bids, development of designs, management of capital programmes and negotiation of cycle facilities through the planning process.
