Exchequer Services
We issue council tax and business rate bills to all properties in the Oldham borough and collect revenue on the council’s behalf. We are also responsible for managing housing and council tax benefits, providing a quality service to both claimants and landlords. We help Oldham Council manage its billing processes efficiently and effectively, and we ensure that the right benefit is paid to the right person at the right time.
As part of our drive for continual improvement, we’ve introduced processes that allow citizens to have their benefit claims processed on the day of application, meaning payments reach the hands of those who need it. We’ve also worked to ensure that all written correspondence communicates clearly with citizens, making what can often be complex procedures a lot easier to understand.
We’re improving collection rates, working towards getting benefit claims accessed more quickly, implementing a National Non Domestic Rates payment deferment scheme, and directing all our resources towards ensuring claimants don’t have to wait for payment of their benefit.
