Road Safety and Casualty Reduction
Unity’s road safety team interacts with local schools, community groups and the general public to improve road safety through education.
Some of the ways we do this include training children in specific year groups in schools, developing cycling proficiency training, hosting road safety events, conducting publicity drives and promoting of safe and sustainable travel – particularly cycling and walking.
Our team’s efforts have attracted grants of hundreds of thousands of pounds for various road safety initiatives. Our expertise in securing this grant funding from sources outside of Oldham has been of benefit for both the council and citizens
Unity’s casualty reduction team is also working to reduce road accidents and casualties throughout the borough, achieving local and national targets through the introduction of data-led engineering measures that provide tailor-made road schemes fit for any purpose. These can include implementation of school safety zones, traffic-calming schemes, route-safety schemes, junction improvements, cycling and walking schemes and undertaking road safety audits.
